Former MEGADETH Drummer Returns With "Life After Deth"
January 17, 2002FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MEGA-DRUMMER NICK MENZA SET TO RELEASE SOLO PROJECT ON FEBRUARY 15TH ON MENZANATIONS RECORDS
With Life After Deth, Nick Menza lets loose razor-sharp and aggressive songs on an unsuspecting public. Produced by Nick Menza and co-produced by Max Norman (i.e. MEGADETH, OZZY, SAVATAGE, FATES WARNING, LOUDNESS),Life After Deth was ten years in the making. While playing drums in MEGADETH (19891998),Menza was writing music as a hobby. At first it was more of a hobbyist art project. When my relationship with MEGADETH came to an end, the music and the writing became more serious to me. Most of the music, on this album, was written through the years on tour. It's like a snapshot of that time, explains Menza. I learned a lot from Dave (Mustaine). He's a great lyricist and songwriter.
The inspiration of this album is mostly attributed to Menza's long-term career with MEGADETH. With no apologies and no holds barred, Menza belts out lyrics driven primarily by the physical and psychological need to release his emotional demons in the form of song.
The song 'Life Back' explains my newfound freedom I regained after my MEGADETH career came to an end. I didn't have to worry about what I said. I was in charge of myself and only have to answer to myself, Menza explains. When you are in a situation for so long, you act as a unit.
With track titles such as Though the Lies, You Won't Forget Me, and Mastervibe, Life After Deth palpably proves Menza's debut solo-project is a no-frills, no-nonsense dose of hard, brooding rock.
Life After Deth is a hard, loud rock record that's dangerous, addictive and in your face. This hard rock fury will be sold exclusively on Nick Menza's website www.menza.com.
